What's in the online lessons?
Short video lessons, listening practice, and speaking practice. They cover the parts of English that are hard for most people — tenses, prepositions, small talk, talking on the phone, and what to do when you don't know a word. You can use them when you have time. In a queue, in the auto, before bed. They fit into your day. Most English apps don't know who you are. STEP is different. On every call, a real coach listens to you. They hear how you speak. They learn what you find hard. They help you with the real conversations you have in life.
What are Coach calls?
Coach calls are phone calls with a real STEP coach. One-on-one. Only you and the coach. With Core, you get up to four calls a month. Each call is 30 minutes long. Every call has four parts. First, free talk to help you feel ready. Next, the coach checks your work from the last call. Then a short lesson on one grammar or pronunciation problem you have. Last, new words and phrases for a real-life topic — saying hello, asking for help, making a complaint. At the end of the call, you get a small task to bring back to the next call.
How does booking work?
You book your call in the STEP app. Pick a time that works for you. Each call is with a STEP coach who is an expert on the topic you want to learn. If you need to change the time, you can do it in the app.
What happens after the first week?
Your first week costs — 199. If Core works for you, you pay 1,999 a month after that. We take the payment with UPI. You can stop any time before the next payment. There is no long lock-in.
Why does The Hindu run an English platform?
The Hindu has printed an English newspaper in India for 148 years. We know how much good English can do for people here — what it opens up, and what it can hold you back from. We made STEP so that anyone who is ready to work hard can learn English with help from a real coach.
