There were two batches based on age group. Charismatic Crimsons consisted of 7-9-year-olds and Incredible Indigos were a group of 10-12-year-olds.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Story of Charismatic Crimsons<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1125 alignleft lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/step.thehindu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG-20180102-WA0034.jpg\" alt=\"summer camp\" width=\"261\" height=\"348\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 261px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 261\/348;\" \/>Focus: Language immersion, building leadership and team playing skills.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Young children trooped into the room to acquire new skills. They walked out with new friends and a handmade \u2018memory book\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It started with a simple conversation and soon, with introductions and quick friendships, the energy in the room was sparking with laughter and life. Children became eager to practice what they learned, as the exercises to rethink language away from the classroom progressed. They explored language together, and the concepts they learned were personal discoveries. Exercises included voice modulation, pronunciation and other speaking skills. Children were learning the art of storytelling and discovered their creative side, while also building their confidence to communicate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Every day consisted of two sessions. The input session consisted of specific language building activities (reading, writing, listening, speaking) and the output session was work on the \u2018memory book\u2019. This memory book contained stories about themselves, their likes and dislikes, people they care about and things that interest them. Combined with drawing, writing and scrapbooking, we helped them hone their instinct for the language rather than focus on the rules. At the end of the camp, the children had made new friends, become confident, developed interpersonal skills and were able to express their likes and dislikes clearly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each child made a handmade invite for their parents welcoming them to the grand showcase where they presented their \u2018memory book\u2019 to the audience. There was a gallery walk of photographs and videos made during the camp. We told them the story until the twist. Then, they were encouraged to use their imagination to develop the story further. For some it was their first camp, for others they were learning something new, and yet they all came to a consensus about how they wanted the story to go forward. They were abuzz discussing scene sequences. A vibrant creative energy was pulsing through the room as they set about writing the dialogues and assigning characters. Children greatly enjoyed activities like conceptualising the show, writing scripts, characterization, writing dialogues, creating posters, writing invitations, self-reflection and the fun rehearsals of acting and singing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The children were creative and their enthusiasm flowed into their discussions and finalisation of all the dramatic elements. All three dramas were well-received by the parents. After the presentation, the kids eagerly read through the original story and proudly proclaimed that theirs was better than the original. Parents noticed that during the camp, their children were less shy and more animated about their days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What were the Incredible Indigos able to learn: Writing skills, critical thinking, problem solving, presentation, public speaking, leadership, collaboration and emoting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our trainers, Vardhini Sukumar, Niranjani Sathishkumar and Nithya Lohith had a fabulous time engaging in intelligent conversations with these young minds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parents of both camps were delighted about the progress their child had made within a short span of time.
